Our SEND Vision: Aspiration, Respect and Community
At the Academy we believe that every student is entitled to high aspirations, to be treated with respect, and to belong fully within our school community. We are committed to inclusive practice which enables all students, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Children in Care (CiC), to achieve their academic potential, develop independence and prepare successfully for life beyond school.
Students with special educational needs are identified through ongoing assessment, liaison with primary schools, information from parents, concerns raised by staff, and the use of standardised assessments such as CATs.
Parents who have concerns are encouraged to contact the Head of Year in the first instance, with direct access to the SENDCo where appropriate.
Support is delivered through high-quality adaptive teaching, targeted interventions, and Teaching Assistant support. Pastoral systems, behaviour support and wellbeing provision ensure students feel safe, supported and valued within the community.
Progress is monitored regularly and reported to parents three times per year. Parents are partners in planning and are encouraged to engage with staff about their child’s progress and next steps.
Resources are allocated according to need, supported by a range of internal specialists and external agencies. The environment is accessible and inclusive, ensuring all students can fully participate.
All staff receive ongoing SEND training, enabling high expectations and aspirational outcomes for students with SEND.
Careful planning supports students at key transition points, including entry to the Academy and preparation for post-16 pathways.
Parents may contact the Head of Year, SENDCo or Senior Leadership Team with any concerns. Further information is available via the Local Offer on the Lincolnshire website.
