Penelope played Allegretto, the first movement from Sonata in C, Op. 54 No.5 by James Hook and was successful in gaining a position. She will be rehearsing throughout the year and will attend a residential during the Easter Holidays at Uppingham School, which puts on a professionally staged concert.
Lincolnshire Music Service run county groups for the most advanced young musicians and aim to challenge young musicians whilst developing their ensemble skills.
This was Penelope’s first time auditioning for a county band and will be the first time she ever plays with an orchestra, which is a massive achievement.
Curriculum Leader for Music, Miss Barlow said: “Penelope has worked incredibly hard in the lead up to her audition, and has been able to gain a place in the prestigious Lincolnshire Youth Wind Orchestra. Penelope is currently preparing to take her Grade 5 Flute exam. I truly believe she will go far as a musician as her dedication and enthusiasm for Music shines through.”
